Do not lie to me. I will find out, and when I do I will be very annoyed at you for wasting both our times.
I understand your computer is freezing and that it just started happening this morning. So I ask the old IT standby of 'Have you rebooted your PC since this started happening?' and you assure me you have.
So why when I look at the PC do I find that it was last rebooted on 3 November. This is the 20th. Did you reset your clock before rebooting for fun and giggles? Or do you not understand what reboot means? Just in case you didn't I asked if you had turned it off and then on - simple non technical words that a 4 year old would understand. When I call you back and ask you about it it turns out you hadn't 'turned it off completely'.
Head desk.

Date: 2009-11-20 01:00 pm (UTC)Even asking when it was rebooted is pretty much a no-no. The only way to get a truthful answer on this is to have the PC rebooted there and then, and to ask the user to attempt to read the BIOS messages out as they come up, to prove they're not just saying "yes I'm rebooting" while throwing pencils at the ceiling or turning the monitor off and on.

Date: 2009-11-20 02:47 pm (UTC)Personally, I think we could all use something like this (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=beer+keg&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=17311768100868754391&ei=y6oGS966PM7knAfkwYzMCw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=image&resnum=4&ved=0CCEQ8gIwAw#) at each of our desks.
Imperial stout for me, please!

Date: 2009-11-20 03:41 pm (UTC)I've sent that link around IS&T and it just got sent out to the entire IS&T department by the secretary. /bows to your awesome. A few people have responded (no reply-alls!) that they hope Santa brings them that.

Date: 2009-11-20 04:34 pm (UTC)And all I was looking for was an image of a beer keg to post. Instead of the image results being near the top, the shopping results were, and that was the first item. I saw it and thought "...Even better!" *post*
As for myself, if I'm in for a penny, I'm in for a pound. I'll go straight for the 5gal keg setup (http://leeners.com/beer-equipment-kegging.html) instead. I think at least 4 can fit in an average 18cube refrigerator, though I can't imagine myself consuming (much less brewing) that much homebrew regardless of quality...

Date: 2009-11-20 09:25 pm (UTC)I like a good Imperial almost as much as I like a good Hefe or Marzen. Man does not live on IPA alone!
I think this area is saturated with beer aficionados. My (chain) pub of choice has a beer tour (http://winkinglizard.com/data/content/beer_tour.asp) that is very popular. There were only 2 that I had to force myself to drink, and both involved pumpkin. Oh, and I finished the required 100 by June ;)
