Wireless Access Point / Pocket PC: 1
Curtis Kline / Trying to quit smoking / Three hours of my life and a missed lunch: 0

This motherfucking Pocket PC jumps to any access point it can, despite me turning off roaming profiles, and deleting the default profile. I give the fuck up. Thanks Microshaft.

It even jumps to other encrypted access points (local Verizon wireless DSL modems/routers/access points). Makes no damn sense at all.

dumbass

This has nothing to do with profiles. Turn off wi-fi.

profiles are for user settings. *NOT NETWORK SETTINGS*

roaming profiles are "User settings and preferences stored on a central serever" -- NOT "what networks are the device allowed to connect to."

Older verions of Pocket PC will need a .reg file set up to save the 'default' network settings outside of what M$ considers standard (and even then, if you go in to change the settings after booting it will appear to not be correct, but will be - 4 hours and some teeth grinding there).

Newer versions have three different boot methods rather than the former two. Warm boot, cold boot and 'wipe' boot. Warm boot is basically a quick reset, cold boot is like a computer reboot, but you keep nearly all changed settings (I've been told all, but this is M$ so I am sure something is reset back to default), and the 'wipe' boot resets the handheld back to it's initial install state (goodbye programs, changed settings, etc).

Is the reason you responded to my comment the fact that I did not?

I can assure you that I had my own reasons for responding in the manner in which I did, and profanity had nothing to do with it.

Reformat with a 5lb hammer...

... it's the only way to be sure.

So, I'm led to understand that the install of Windows on a netbook is different than any other XP install where you can remove the remembered WiFi connections from the wireless properties?

Ahhh... Somehow I translated Pocket PC to Netbook in my head. I must have gotten spoiled by not having been afflicted with one of those in a long, long time.

My Bad.

.. but I'm still waiting for pictures of the proper application of a 5lb hammer...
