Oye. Some network guys just kill me...I support a medical website, and today is a data upload deadline for our customers. I got a call from someone who works on another tool we have that works in conjunction with ours. And man...this guys computer...

Is it reeeeeeeally necessary to have the java and the browser go through an automatic connection script. Have a login for a firewall (It connects to a domain and the user enters in the login creds when IE is opened), a proxy, and most likely a physical router...all on a computer that is a stand-alone machine not connected to their network attached to it's own DSL line which it shares with NO other machines, and is set up to perform one single function (and is, in fact, untouched except for the once a quarter upload of this data...the data, BTW, is uploaded via a web-based secure FTP service.). Really? >.<

Restrait, dude. Learn some. This crap is the same stuff that was on all the other machines in the building that was preventing it from working correctly that you set up this machine to AVOID.

Not to be a grammar Nazi, but you'd probably have more cred to influence these kind of decisions if you demonstrated some precision and restraint yourself and tightened up on the punctuation and spelling. Semi-coherently recommending something you can't spell is generally counter-productive.

Not to point out something you probably already know (since every time I notice you post, you say something rude and nasty), but the grammar, punctuation, etc. in a work email or document would be a bit different then in an LJ entry. Starting with the spelling; IE7 lacks an in-browser spellcheck and one missing letter that I typod would have easily been caught in an email.

*shrug* Maybe it's just me you don't like. You left nasty comments on my last entry too (which, yes, I can dig up from my email when I'm home), which is why I said "when I notice you post" and not "every time you post".

I think most people lower their standards on LJ. It's casual communication, not professional communication, sometimes changing around grammar and syntax and such gets the point across better. It's the same as the difference between talking to your friends, and talking to your boss. And, uh...I never said it wasn't acceptable for you to lower your standards on LJ...? O.o

If you by nasty you mean that I sank to your level when you made fun of the way I and millions of other people talk (http://community.livejournal.com/techsupport/1837955.html), then I plead guilty. But then, you also plead guilty on that occasion.

Hm, that is true. I'm not gonna be sad that I find certain types of southern accents to be incredibly annoying. I also find certain northern accents annoying, but that woman was southern. I lived in MO, and then I lived in the south. People who speak with that guttural, ghetto-sounding trailer park type of southern accent sound dumb (it doesn't mean I think they ARE dumb, it just adds to the effect if they are). A prejudice I didn't hold before living in the south for 6.5 years. In that lady's case, the accent wasn't really the point or reason why I was unhappy with her, it just made it worse.

I try to spell correctly, but I'm bad at it. Without spellcheck I am spelling fail. That, however, was a typo. ;P Safari and Firefox have the in browser spellchecks, IE7 doesn't. IE is what I have at work. So, typos don't get caught. As far as the grammar...*shrugs* I type more like I talk on LJ. Easier to get the point across that would normally have been communicated through body language and whatnot.

Blunt is good, it gets the point across. Mean, not so much. *shrugs* It's just the internet, lots of people say shit on the internet that they wouldn't in person.
