what? the big blue room?
I've heard rumours that such a place exists but have yet to see it.

I've never had this happen. I had a plan for when it did happen, too. I was all ready to say "OK would you like to talk to one of the techs who's been here the longest and has the highest consistent call resolution statistics? Good, that's me." But oh no. Not one.
What I *did* get was some shrew screeching "Oh! A woman! Maybe we'll get somewhere at last."
"Well I'm one of the most senior techs here, which I think is probably more relevant to the matter at hand than posessing ovaries, ma'am."

Men are not the only one's...

When I was working tech support, I had this one lady that was convinced that all of the men on our staff were incompetent. Well this posed a problem as being one of the four level 2 techs and all of us being male, she really had no choice when she got bumped up to us.

Long story short, since she was a reoccuring caller, it was always nice to hear "I know you have three legs, but hopefully you will be able to fix my issue."

or other gems like

"I wish my daughter was home she could fix this issue in half the time you are taking so far."

Eh I do not know about anyone else, but usually people are promoted to a higher position, they are promoted for being an outstanding employee.

My plan is to say, "Well, let me try to help you. If I can't, I'll transfer you directly to my supervisor, Toby."

Toby is also a woman.

Lol, thats pretty funny. I did techsup for quite some time, and I think some of the women have more patience than the guys, but thats just my personal experience. Loved the comic, tho.

No needs for apologies because I know it was a rotten apple in the lot, just wanted to point out that men are not the only ones'...

Anyways nowadays I do support for professors in the computer science department. Happy days, happy days (please excuse the sarcasm)
