Yesterday I got a phone message from a guy who spelled out his registration number for me with the NATO phonetic alphabet. So refreshing. (When I called him back it turned out he was an amateur radio operator, so he knows this stuff.)

I hate how unable people are to take dictation.

"subdomain.domain.edu" does not mean "subdomain.edu" and it certainly does NOT mean "www.subdomain.domain.edu" or any variation thereof unless I TELL you to put a www. before it.

Also, I'm tired of the people who, when I say:

"I, P as in Paul, C as in Charlie, O, N as in November, F as in Foxtrot, I, G" type in ipconsig.

Totally, this is the one that gets me everytime.

I usually say "Type I... P..., C as in Charlie, O, N as in Nancy, F as in Frank, I, G as in Gary" and inevitably they want to put 's' for 'f'.

I can usually tell I'm going to have trouble when I tell the caller to "Go to Start, then Run, and type CMD, Charlie Mary David" and the response is "My name isn't Charlie".

sad and true, I like when I tell them F like frank, they still type 's' so I say it again and lo and behold...it's still typed in as 's'
