Somehow I feel like you're lying to me
Dec. 16th, 2008 08:18 amThis morning we received the following alert from our NOC team:
--------
'<SQL Server>','<SBS Server>','<Image Server>' at '<Customer>' is currently down. Our agents are showing offline as well as the server is not responding to ping attempts from other servers in the network.
--------
Here's the problem: Those are the only three servers at the site. I am very curious to know how they made these supposed "ping attempts" from these mystical "other servers in the network".

Date: 2008-12-16 06:13 pm (UTC)They used the good old "Server we stored in the basement for the last couple of years and forgot to throw away" of course ;-)
But seriously: Why do they say, that they did something, when it is obvoius, that they weren't able to do it in the first place?
Do they want to show us, that they don't know what they are talking about or just try to appear knowledgable to the person the CCed or BCCed in?
