Why, oh fucking why, don't all the ISPs of the world unite, and scream at their customers :

"THE FUCKING SPAM IS NOT OUR FAULT!
WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!
IT'S YOUR FAULT YOU ARE ON SPAM LISTS ANYWAY!"

...?

Then, we all wouldn't have to worry about looking like a bad company, because we collectively just told everyone to eat our ass.

Either that, or someone should create some software that reads the header information of an email, find the mail server, then start performing DOS attacks on the servers it finds from the headers.

If everyone had this software, it'd sure put a dent in the spam problem.

It's a nice thought in theory, though I know the problems.
So don't bother trying to explain why my idea wouldn't work.

I respond to spam complaint emails, and security issues, via email.
Some of our customers think they are doing a major difference by providing us with the headers.

It's like, really, all I'm doing is sending a complaint email to the network, and sending you a happy little response which is there to make you feel like you're making a difference.

Give it a rest.

Some of these bastards log 20+ incidents a day.

I'm a tech supervisor. I do emails, and look after my team and answer questions when they get stuck.

I'd rather spend my email time answering real questions, other than placating some fucking moron who's upset that his generic email of bob@major-isp.com.au is getting lots of spam.

People don't believe that getting spam is somewhat their responsibility. People ask me do I get spam, and I say no, because I don't give out my work email address. I've given hints and tips on creating a hotmail account if you need to give an email address to order airline tickets or something, but no one listens. Bah.

Thank you. I get at least three calls a day complaining about "dirty" spam, and I want to tell them, STOP VISITING PORN SITES! DON'T GIVE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS OUT TO TOTAL STRANGERS!
