No, it's magic! Wireless means 'transmitted by fairy dust and unicorn farts', so you don't even have to have the POS hardware installed, you just have to wish and it will work.

Reminds me of the people who insisted they 'couldn't possibly be using any bandwidth' because they turned their computers off at night...but left their unsecured wireless routers on :P

"No, no sir, it does not. You see, if it does not find a power source, it will simply run on the blood of the PEBKACs who operate it, or, failing that, on the souls of dead babies. You may want to plug it in anyway, to spare the children."

See, this is where I get myself in trouble. My answer would be something like this:

"... *snicker* ... hahahaha... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA... *continuous guffawing for another minute* ... OK, seriously... is this a serious question?"

Way off topic, what does that line mean "Memento Mori Ergo Carpe Diem", my mind keeps translating it as:
"Remember Death to Seize the Day"

I usually translate it as:

Remember that you are mortal; therefore, seize the day

5 years ago I would have laughed myself silly.

Today, some tech never truly turns off until the power cord or battery is removed. Some devices will operate fully autonomous functions in standby mode.

Of course you would have to be somewhat savvy to know that to begin with, so hearing questions fielded from the general public would be questionable, indeed.
