So I had to go to Memphis on Friday to install a new pc image on the machines there. Easy job. While there I got asked by the sales manager to go to an off-site facility where they are having a sales meeting next week to verify if they have a phone line to call into our RAS sever for some web-based training. Ok..easy. Then about an hour later got called again to check with the facility management to see if they have a speaker phone they could use. If they didn't they wanted me to go and buy a speaker phone so they could make calls. Luckily the facility had pots and no PBX system so any phone would work. You know a little planning my management would have saved everyone a lot of time and me running back and forth...

You'd think they'd have a bigger picture mentality, but sometimes they do not. Pretty annoying, I'm sure.

Holy crap. We need a data line. Call IT. I mean, every network and internet connection is the same. They can get it to work

Holy crap. The copier is out of toner. Call IT. Copier runs of electricity like computers. They can get it to work.

Holy crap. I bought a pc but I don't want to spend the money on Office. Call IT. They have the software. They will give it to me.

I'm with you that this line of work is frustrating, but you have to admit that in the grand scheme of things the idiocy of these people and technology is what give us such well paying (AAAHAHHAHAHHAAA!!!!) jobs.

Sometimes I wonder what people would do without IT staff? Everyone I know in IT usually goes above and beyond the call of duty, but never a simple thank you.
