Downloading a file from a web site is NOT installing.  Just like getting in your car is not driving.  I know some programs will automaticly install after they download but it's still 2 steps.

I like to use door analogies since they are simpled devices that are used on a daily basis ;) For that one I say "It's like when you want to open a door, after you turn the door knob, you still have to push it open..."

Light bulb analogies work, too. "After you screw in the light bulb, you still have to turn on the lamp..."

I had a technote published in our knowledge base for 2 years that said our products do not work unless they are installed. Unfortunately some editor lacking in humor removed it.

Booting to an install disc is also not installing.

(And the first thing you want to do when taking a new computer out of the box is probably *not* to overlay install its OS from the install discs, at least not these days, unless it well and truly does not boot when you turn it on. "Why did you do that?" "Because I thought I was supposed to ..")
