Alienware?
Dec. 25th, 2007 10:29 pmOkay, so... Our computer at work is also our register, and it runs a POS/database program for that purpose. The company we get it from lets us know when updates are available, and prompts us to install them, much like Microsoft does, which is pretty normal. Unfortunetley for us, our computer only has 512mb in RAM (And this is a recent upgrade.) so it was going pretty slowly. My boss tried to use it while it was updating and complained that it was slow, and wanted to know why. (This after they wouldn't pay for more than an extra stick of 256 to add to what we already had.) I explained that it was downloading some patches. She looked shocked and asked me... (Drumroll, please...)
"Why does it need a patch? Is it addicted to one of those alienwares I hear about?" (She meant spyware...) Okay, so that's my Christmas hilarity for the day. :D

(And yes, I do know the various differences I've just conflated. My employer owns Alienware.)
