Well, I just spent the last few of hours fixing the network/phones in the office. This office is mostly a hot-desk area and over time people have thieved everything from patch cables to desk phones.

Each desk now has LAN and each desk has access to a phone (1 phone between two).

So, now I'm taking bets on how long it'll take for the bottom-feeders to ruin it all!

Happy Friday y'all!

Can you tag this equipment and put sensors at the exits? Sure, there's creative ways around it but eliminating the obvious ones can't hurt.

(Might be a bit hard with patch cables, but surely phones and such can be. The patch cables might be useful to hang them by, though.)

I'm betting it's already been ruined. However, you won't hear of it for at least another three days.

You *can* do something to ensure some of these things don't walk:

On the tips of cables - you know the bit that locks in to the device? If you clip about half of that off, they can't easily remove it from whatever you click it into.

Just remember that if you do it, you and anyone else working on this stuff has to carry a small screwdriver at all times...

That trick doesn't work with properly equipped idiots. A nailfile works just fine to get them off, as well as a penknife, and small letter-openers.

With PROPERLY equipped idiots nothing works. This does stop the "snatch and grab" idiots.
