Even software that never did before.

Another weird one:

If you use Nero, do yourself a favor and hold off on the shiny new v. 6.3.0.0. There a virtual-CD drive thingy in it called ImageDrive, and while it worked flawlessly in the past, they didn't give the coder chimps enough bananas this time.

Enabling it will probably bluescreen your machine, and even if it doesn't you're still screwed. The next time you restart it will be stuck in a loop, constantly rebooting before the WinSplashScreen even appears.

'Last Known Good Config' will kill ImageDrive and get you back into Windows, but damn, what a nice surprise at 2 AM. How the hell did something like that get past the beta test?

Not to start a holy war here, but Nero has always been perfect for whatever I want to do. IMO, Nero is what everyone else tries to be but fails to be because they want to "simplify" it... read that as "remove features".

There are literally hundreds of different ways to burn data onto a disc, each with a specific purpose, and Nero's strong point is making every last one available and doing it well.

This whole Imagedrive fiasco is a first, and probably 'cause they released 6.0.28 one day and pushed 6.3 out two days, kinda like a holiday gift to their users... but they failed to notice their "present" blows up when you unwrap it.

Hmm... exploding Christmas gifts. Now that's an idea. Methinks I know what to send my "special" customers this season.

Don't worry. If you bought a boxed copy, there's no way it's 6.3. Just don't update it until they come out with a newer version.

Previous versions of Nero 6 never gave me any problems.
