So, this is more for entertainment value then complaining, but I got a ticket today where the subject said: "customer accidentially installed windows vista ultimate on his laptop and wants his reimaged to the standard image".

How the fuck do you ACCIDENTIALLY install and entire OS? Did you "accidentially" spend the $500 on it? Oh, yeah, I "accidentially" clicked next a bunch and "accidentially" entered my serial number. So here was my response in the ticket:

"Sending to local because, well, there's no other way to resolve this.

But please ask the customer not to attempt to do this again. I'm fairly sure that there is no way to 'accidentially' install Vista on a computer. Please tell the customer that when the company is ready to upgrade to Vista we will provide him with a copy of the software. Currently (as I'm sure he has realized from the incident) nothing internal works with Vista".

I mean...really. Accidentially installed an OS. Sure you did buddy. Well, we'll "accidentially" deduct the $250 from your dept's budget to cover the visit by local to fix your screwup. And I will accidentially pass your idiocy to everyone I can to get the most amusement possible.

I always bitch about the "i agree to these terms" screens, because if I didn't agree, I wouldn't install it. But maybe they use it to stop people accidentally installing shit :P

Vista is the most co-dependent of all co-dependent things there ever was. I'm amused at the "accidental" bit, because you can't do ANYTHING accidentally in Vista, much less when you WANT to. I got a Vista box at work if I wanted it or not, most because we needed to have one around and I'm on the bottom of the pole. :D

I think probably if he's stupid enough to install it on his work machine, especially if (and this is all I could think MIGHT have happened) he accidentially installed it on the wrong machine, he's probably too stupid to steal it.

They should be better at it...it didn't stop HIM. :/

None of us can reimage our own drives....no software to do it with. Besides, this guy probably wasn't an engineer. It's VERY doubtful he has an MSDN subscription. Most of the people I deal with aren't employed in technical fields.

Heh. If you "accidentally" plug your machine in my network, then "accidentally" netboot it, then "accidentally" ask for Ubuntu to be installed, then the server will indeed nuke whatever is on there and you'll have a nice shiny Feisty Fawn. I *can* also set up your box so that it starts installing without asking... but you'd still need to boot off the server.

I like to start new experiments with freshly installed systems.
