...as I lead you down the path of reason.

I feel strongly that a keylogger is installed on my pc.
Is there any keylogger on the market to your knowledge that your software will not detect?

IF WE KNEW ABOUT IT, IT WOULD DETECT IT.

Had I known the user manual for your product was 50 pages, I wouldn't have purchased it.

I AM SURE THAT YOU OPERATE THINGS ON A DAILY BASIS WITH USER MANUALS MUCH LONGER THAN 50 PAGES.

HA HA! Oh man. 50 pages. That's GREAT!

I have to wonder how many people who "don't read" or "don't like reading" read a novella's worth on the web every day.

Like a car :-)

Wait. Who read the car's users manual?

Offer him the 2-page version. Print the same stuff in very small type.

Now wait a second. I'm assuming you work for an AV company or something. The spirit of the question is pretty clear..."is it possible that I have a keylogger on my system even though I am using your product, or am I barking up the wrong tree?" You're saying you can't give an answer to that question?

Looks to me like he's asking if there are ANY keyloggers that your product doesn't find, not asking you to list specifics. The correct answer would be "due to the nature of computer security in general, in all likelihood there are keyloggers and other malicious software in the wild that we do not currently protect against. Our research team is constantly working to discover and protect you against new threats and your best bet is to keep your definitions up-to-date etc etc etc."

Me...I don't drive and frequently get bored on car journeys.

I *always* read the manual of any car I get, cover to cover. Not necessarily immediately or anything. You never know when you'll find a surprise like "oh by the way, get your oil changes done at the dealer or your engine will blow up" or something like that.

That's why I'm EX-tech-support and you're not.

I can believe the 50-Page one.

When working in my High School library, one student in my English Class came in, took out a "Rolling Stone" back issue...

And did a book report on it.

He got a "C", IIRC.

Or in my case, my favorite section: shift points for maximum performance. Don't recall them exactly at the moment and the manual's a few miles away at the shop (along with the rest of the beast) but third gear was recommended at 65 or so (as opposed to 25 for maximum fuel economy) and fifth was something like 130 (as opposed to 40). Purrrrrrrrrr.

...and a teacher let them do that shit?
Okay, I'm going to say "Nice try, lazy ass" on the part of the student and "Who the fuck gave you a job?!" on the part of the teacher.

** Unless it was a class based on journalism, which is the only case in which I'd consider it even slightly appropriate.

"Destreamed" Grade 9 English. They got rid of "Basic, Moderate, and Advanced" classes as they were "Biased".

So, instead they "Mixed it all up", and taught at the basic level.

I was at high school level reading before I got out of Grade 3.

Needless to say, I was less than impressed when I only got a "B" due to "My being more advanced than the rest of the class, and thus should be marked harsher."

Generally doesn't being more advanced merit being moved to more difficult classes? Dear Lord, their logic was fuxx0rd.

I work in educational publishing and I slap my forehead at least twice a day in awe of some school standards. I spent part of this week making sure that the word "evolution" doesn't appear in any chapters slated for a new book coming out. Why? Because Texas doesn't want anyone to use the e-word.

Ah, but that would be discriminatory if someone who has worked harder and learned more than others, spending time to study and work on things does better and gets better grades than those who goofed off, did drugs and underage drinking, screwed around with cheerleaders/football players, and so on and so forth.

Q: I feel strongly that a keylogger is installed on my pc. Is there any keylogger on the market to your knowledge that your software will not detect?

A: "A hardware keylogger."

Ah the smell of Corporate BS in the morning! It smells like...

Like...

Like the fertilizer factory that was right next to the water treatment plant I used to have to pass every day on my commute to work.

Damn glad to be gone from that job!

Reminds me of that episode where somebody though Dell put key loggers in their keyboards. They used proof in the form of a PIC chip being in their keyboard... PICS are basic microcontrollers that are used for everything.

For that matter, the one somebody wrote yesterday that hasn't gotten out yet.

"Not know by us to exist", yes. They maybe can't detect the one just written and not yet released, but its author knows it exists.
