Unnngh....
Nov. 8th, 2003 05:08 pmMy god... People are just stupid.
I can't believe some of these idiots that call here. Don't know their username, don't know what type of computer they have... Some of them don't even know their phone number. I just have a couple rules that should be mandatory for internet service.
Failure to comply with these should be grounds for immediate service termination. Do not pause, do not pass go and do not bug me ever again!

- A customer should be required to know what type of computer they have
- A customer should know which operating system said computer runs
- A customer should know their own phone number
- A Customer should write down both the username and the password.
Failure to comply with these should be grounds for immediate service termination. Do not pause, do not pass go and do not bug me ever again!

Date: 2003-11-08 04:58 pm (UTC)It happens to the rest of us too. I'm the "babysitter" of a couple of dozen users on a 2MB ADSL link. Well, our ADSL provider is good. Brilliant. SUPER in fact. 100% uptime for 18 months. Then one day, people couldn't get on the web and I figured out it wasn't an internal problem. Cool, I thought, I'll call our ISP. Hmmm, OK, what's our ISP's support number. OK, What's our "account name" with them. OK, what's the NAME of our ADSL provider ?!. I hadn't had to call them (or even think about them) for a year and a half.
Found out who they were by having our office admin person give me our BANK ACCOUNT records and finding out who we were sending the cheques too each month. Looked them up in the phone directory, called them and was sorted out in about 2 minutes.
(For the record, it was www.activ.net.au, "so good you don't even know they're there").

Date: 2003-11-09 04:22 am (UTC)Being that we provide DSL, I often just assume lately they're using a router and tell them we don't support them. That often gets them serious enough to work with.
