I forget... What's the switch I'm supposed to set to make my poster printer generate it's errors at the beginning of the job, instead of just short of finishing?

Stupid printers. /me restarts the darned poster for the third time

Toggle the power switch six or seven times, then hold the page feed button the last time you turn it on, preferably while rapping yourself in the forehead with a large hammer and repeating "I WILL READ THE COMMUNITY INFO BEFORE POSTING"...

You're forgetting that the carrage mechanism may need a refill of tractor feed, likely just the green sections. That works with all of my printers.

printers can sense fear

First, try verbally threatening it and insulting its parentage. If that fails, say, "Don't you move - I'll be right back." Go rummage noisily in an adjoining room, then come back in equipped with a large screwdriver and cordless drill. Then walk menacingly toward the printer while muttering under your breath about how "THAT ought to fix it".

They usually straighten up right quick after that.

But where's the button that blares "WARNING: YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN TO ENGAGE YOUR SARCASM METER. ENGAGE IMMEDIATELY!"?

Take the printer out to the nearest deserted field, and beat it to death with a baseball bat.

Then requisition a new printer.

I always find that a block of C4 does the trick...
it's quicker and more satisfying somehow.

I would suggest that, but most folks don't know how to treat high explosives properly.

Me, I grew up in a mining town. You only need to see an entire transport truck vaporized once to know that it's something you treat with respect.

(Yes, that's a true story. I'd hate to have taken the Tech Support call on that one!).

Kick it?

No no no, you need a tire iron from a '67 Lincoln Continental, you need to apply *JUST* the right amount of pressure to the left front-pannel when it blinks the second light for the fourth time.

I had a license to manufacture my own... [had as in, couldn't be bothered to renew it when it expired]

and yeah.. nothing like seeing a golfball sized lump of what looks like beige silly putty reduce a dodge pickup to a smoldering hole in the ground, to teach a little respect of the stuff.

It's still fun to play with... from a safe distance.
[and oddly enough, I always get asked to handle the fireworks at parties.]

Waaay off topic....

What's your take on Tannerite, Just out of curiosity?

I'm thinking of buying a pound of it (seperated, obviously) for use as reactive targets next time I go out into the Wilds for target practice.

Hmm... not personally used it much myself.

Generally I shouldn't think you'd need more than a half-pound, and mix up an half-ounce or so fresh for each target. [it's not a good idea having a 'live' batch sitting around too long.]

It's a fairly slow explosive, but produces large amounts of gas, so unless you want a really huge boom, don't confine it too much. Best targets I saw used an ounce of live in an Altoids tin.

Of course, you want to be afair distance away from that.

umm... kinda a mixture of both. Depending on how much beer everyone else has been drinking. [don't really drink myself, and never around explosives].

At least, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
