*Ditzy giggle*

Y'know? like... I can't remember my password..

Can you like, y'know, change it?

ME: Sure can.. Alright.. the new password is ABC123..

oh, that's like.. you know, to hard to remember.. can't you set it to like one letter or something?

ME: *bangs his head against his desk*

Let's just take all the warning labels off everything and let Darwin's theories work for a change....

AMEN!

Let the stupid people blow themselves up!

(sister started a control burn not 5 feet from the propane tank last week. Yeah I have no hard feelings if Darwin came and took her off the globe)

I had a lady call in yesterday. Didn't know her username or password. Her husband, who set up the account, never bothered to write his password down or attempt to remember it. When I questioned this she said "Well, he's my husband. You know how that is." And I thought "Gee lady, I don't. For I have no husband, but my boyfriend isn't dim enough to not know his passwords."
Anyhoo, they wanted me to change the password. The husband suggested something slightly lame, I changed it to that, and he passed the phone off to the lady. The lady says "Let's change it to something else." Me "Uh, I just did change it." Lady "But we're in public, think up something to change it to and tell me." Me " :O Uh, I'll change it to 'abc123' but call back later to get it changed." Lady "Why? That's good enough." Me "Because it's not a very good password and it's easily hacked and wouldn't you like a better password?" Lady "I don't get why you're giving me a hard time! What's the difference?!" Me "Uh, nothing I guess. Your new password is 'abc123', have a nice day."

I think I'll join you in that head bashing on the desk.

Where I used to work, people got pissed 'cause the e-mail system required 8 characters minimum for the password. Then, they got even more pissed when you told them that the password should be a mix of letters and numbers and that no they cannot use their old password again. (And then when you checked the "User Must Change Password At Next Logon" box so they couldn't just keep using the "default" password).

Speaking of the email system.. People used to get pissed because of the usernames as well... See it's a major university which means lots of users... Faculty/Staff UN's were lastnamefirstinitial (ex: cardc) but student usernames were fourletternumbercombocorrispodingtovaxdisklastnamefistinitial (ex: 2I99cardc). Faculty/staff couldn't remember their email usernames (they wanted them to be firstname.lastname like the email addresses) and students didn't like theirs (too hard to remember, in their minds, they wanted something to match their aim screen name).

oh I love giving people a password. I use a randomizer.

But I love it when it comes out as : iloo0Xia

Muhahah and no we won't change it to one of your choosing cause frankly

placeing your spouses name as password on your account is idiotic.

On our new system it's even easier, I create a domain and an admin for the client, then they get to do all accounts and stuff themselves.

Although one thick client put all passwords to the same. Cause "I can't bother to remember diffrent one when going around changing to the new system".

Security? naaaw what's the point?

I'm always amused by the people that say, "It says my password is incorrect. I never had a password."

"Um, yes you did, you may have just forgotten it."

"No, I didn't have one."

"Yes, all email addresses have passwords otherwise anyone would be able to read your email. I can reset your password for you though."

I got one just the other day.. old guy from texas wanted his pw to be PASSWORD.. told him i could do that BUT that it is not secure and that anyone that had his username could guess his pw and see his account info.. his reply was "Why would anyone want to do that?"
