I have the unfortunate luck of having to handle overflow Sales chats in addition to my tech support duties. Setting the scene, this was a conversation in a Sales chat with someone who wasn't what I'd call the brightest bulb in the first place. After answering most of his stupid questions, we get to the portion of the chat where I am first propositioned and then accused of being a chat bot. One of those two things is new to me.

Heh, that last bit reminded me of a boss I once had who would hear me typing and then come over to WATCH me typing, because I typed so fast he was convinced I was just tapping on the keys to make noise and could not possibly be typing actual words.

(He averaged 20-30 words per minute, I believe, and I was around 110.)

See, my thought on this is that, if you work a job 40 hours a week that involves almost continuous typing, then you either get better at the job, lose the job, or become management and stop doing any actual work typing.

The job this happened at, though, most of what my boss and I did was physical labor, building, and purchasing. :) I just happened to be able to type really fast due to spending hours and hours on the Internet in my free time. :D

Heh. I had about ten years of IRC under my belt when I met one of the 'old guard' of a channel in person. I was no slowpoke by that stage, but she typed so fast it actually shocked me when I saw it 'live', as it were. Pnuematic drills had nothing on this woman.
