Anyone who's ever done tech support will sympathize with this video....

...and 30 minutes later he has to get tech support back in there because the book is upside down.

Heh. Too true...

Tech support in Sweden circa 1300 AD. Things haven't changed much...

Yup.

Right about the time he had to turn the pages back, my heart rate went up, blood pressure increased and that little vein above my right eyebrow started pulsing.

Close but no cigar.

That's not Swedish but Norweigan.

well, y'know, Sweden and Norway *were* part of the same political entity at one point.

... OK, so it was the Kalmar Union in the 14th Century, but still...!

;)

From what I understand, though, aren't Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish pretty much dialects of the same language?

Depends on how picky you are. ;-) Some of the dialects are pretty much mutually unintelligible. (Pretty much all Danish and Norwegian "backup danish" dialects (Rogaland, Hordaland, wherever they gurgle their r) just sound like drunken mumbling to me (Norwegian from close to the Swedish border).) They're probably only slightly closer than Dutch and German. :-P

Hell, I'm a native English speaker and I can't understand more than a few dialects of English. I still have the NYC/Eastern Seaboard accent of my youth. I CANNOT understand someone with a thick Southern accent at all. And some British dialects might as well be Uzbek. :/

I suppose that's why they have standard forms of pretty much every language.
