I work for a company that manufactures DVD players. WTF makes you think I'm going to give you a recommendation for software to rip your DVD's to your PC? Also, telling me I'm not being helpful, that you're going to call back and talk to someone who will give you what you want will NOT get you a different answer.

If you're that desperate, learn to Google and GTFO my phone.

*Hmmmmmm*

Well, why wouldn't you give out that information?

It's not like it would hurt DVD drive sales...

The proper response would have been "Oh, of COURSE, sir/ma'am! Now, that information may take me a little while to get, so if you could give me your name, phone number and address, I can get a copy of it off to you just as soon as I get your information! Uh huh.. Yep.. Bill Dorkinghead, 123 Stupid Lane, Moronicsburg, FU? Thaaanks! Oh, and by the way, just so you know, ripping DVDs for any other purpose than making a backup copy is extremely illegal! But since I have your information, we know that won't be a problem, will it? Thankshaveaniceday!*click*"

LOL That's awesome.

I work tech support for an international shipping company, and we get calls all the time wanting us to give them ways to get around customs regulations.

Me on phone: "...well yes sir I supposed you could set your shipment up that way, but that would mean you are trying to bypass a federal regulation, which is highly illegal"

They usually hang up on me too because I'm not being helpful and "this is bad customer service"...I'm tech support. I am paid to tell you how you have to do something to make it work on our shipping programs...if you wanted someone to kiss your ass, why don't you actually call customer service and leave me alone.

I'd just tell them "Sir/ma'am, the legalities of performing that are questionable, and as such are not supported by our product. If you continue making this request, I'll be forced to disconnect you."

I'm SO glad I do in house support.

Unfortunately with Tech Support, the Customer is almost always wrong.

And refuses to believe it. :-S
