Ok. I've said it once and I'm going to say it again. If you don't speak enough english to tell me whether your bloody DSL modem is on or off, do not, under any circumstances, call technical support.

I don't care if your computer is burning up and you need to get online to save your baby from wild tigers. If you don't speak basic English goddamn it you have no business calling me and wasting my time. There is nothing on the computer that is that important. Get a friend who does speak English to do it.

This, conversely goes the other way as well. If you don't speak passible English, don't take a bloody tech support job.

I agree with the last line 100%. If you can speak enough to be understood by people over the phone.... you have no business working in a call center on the phones. Had a recent experience with SBC DSL and the guy couldn't even ask a question in complete english sentences. And when I told him the issue and everything I had already done, he still couldn't get it.
