Toshiba has finally released drive diagnostics for its hard drives. It's about time!

I've had nothing but trouble with Toshiba equipment. Not just hard drives (I once had an entire box of brand new, totally DOA drives), but laptops and PDA's. They're on my permanent Do Not Buy list.

Last time I tried to RMA a Toshiba hard drive, it took about 3 MONTHS for them to send a replacement!

Sometimes I really miss the reliability of the good old Seagate ST-225 drives. They were a little on the noisy side, but would run practically forever.

People don't seem to realize that as drive capacity and data density increase, the chance for errors and drive failures also increases. Its no wonder modern hard drives have such short warranty periods...
