I repeat: I hate beta lusers. It says in large, bold letters when you download it that there is NO PHONE SUPPORT for the beta. It also says you should install it in a test environment - which if we have to tell you that, then you shouldn't fucking be a beta tester!

Beta Luser: Yeah, have your beta software and I need help with it.
Me: I apologize, but there is no phone support for the beta version. Did you post your question to the beta forum?
Beta Luser:  Well, I would but your beta crashed my system and now I can't even boot my system - not even in safe mode.
Me: *smirks* I understand, but we do not support it. I'm afraid you'll have to find another system to get online in order to contact our beta forums.
Beta Luser: My system is hosed because of YOUR software and you're not going to help me?! This is rediculous!

People that think beta means "ooh! new & shiny" should be shot.

"Dumb-ass! It means new and possibly broken!" BLAM!

Tell the stupid monkey to go back to flinging his poo.

He was probably more productive that way.

I got bitched out by a customer who wanted us to support something he downloaded from our ALPHAworks site. It says on the site that the software provided is NOT supported.

"Well, why do you provide software that you don't support?"
Hey, why did you DOWNLOAD software that was clearly marked as NOT SUPPORTED, dumbass?

Reminds me of a caller I got back in '00. This kid volunteered to be a beta tester for AOL. He proudly told me he was a beta tester for them at the beginning of the call.

Yeah, computer wouldn't go into Windows even in Safe Mode. Upshot: Had to find his homework and do a DOS file copy from the AIM directory (which has a rather long name) and then do a complete format/reinstall.

The sad part was, I HAD to help him, even though I didn't work for AOL. :(

I might not mind AOL so much if there was any way to actually make it work any better. But even from somebody who was a friend of mine and a tech AND liked AOL... there isn't. It's the most untweakable piece of crap out there.

This is why everyone in the world went with VHS 30 years ago.
