I'm paid hourly, and in the California Republic, when you hit 8 hours in a day, you start pulling overtime.
So with less than 30 minutes left, the company president comes up to me and tells me to drop everything, the VP will be sending me some images that need to be posted on the company website ASAP. This is Top Priority, Code Blue, DEFCON 1.
So I sit at my desk waiting... and waiting...
And then I see the VP head out the door, get in his car and drive away. WTF?
I go to check with the president, but he's left too.
Hello? If it's so damn important, why did you just leave? You are aware that I'm just going to sit here twiddling my fingers pulling Time and a Half until you return or until the office is totally empty, right?

Date: 2006-05-17 12:54 am (UTC)Unless I have previous plans for the night, I usually don't care; not only am I getting that sweet sweet overtime for basically goofing off, but if we're still there at 7, the department manager usually treats us all to dinner on the company's dime. (He also does that when we're getting overtime actually, you know, working.)
